During the winter season the Peel Road Runners enter into the local Birmingham and District Cross Country League.

This is a great opportunity to go out and run 10KM distance and represent your club. The runners who take part all say it is a great way to keep fitness levels up over the normally quiet winter months. The run acts as a form of speedwork, and come the spring months when you want to start training properly again, you will already have a great head start!

As well as being great training, and a chance to run somewhere different (there are some great parks we run in!) it’s also free; your running club pays your entry fee for you. It is a social event as well, after the run everybody usually gets showered and goes to a local pub to eat and have a drink, you will really get to know the other Peelers like you never have before!

So what are you waiting for, you might just realise you have been missing out on one of the best kept training secrets about and have fun whilst doing it!

Go and speak to your cross country manager to join in the fun, details on the on contacts page, don't forget to log in first.
