Summer Route 14 – Wigginton pub loop

  1. From Wigginton pub, go down Brown’s Lane and cross Ashby Road, over the railway footbridge, follow the path with the school on the left.
  2. At the bottom, turn left and first right onto the ‘cut through’ pathway, cross the road onto Yarrow Close, then keep left until the footbridge on the left.
  3. Cross the footbridge, up through the trees, then into the field. Keep to the top path through the meadow, then straight across the field (ignore path to left and right) at broken stile, through gap in hedge, turn right, then left (keeping river on rhs). Follow this path through the kissing gate, across the meadow, over the stile and another meadow until the metal bridge at Amington Hall Farm.
  4. Through the gate (or stile) go straight on (do not cross the river!), then as the road bears left, turn left and follow the path across grass with trees on lhs, through a kissing gate and over a stream, keep left with trees on the left until the path rejoins the Gate Gallop route. Follow the GG route until the junction at Statfold Barn Farm.
  5. Turn left and run down the drive, then turn left at the Ashby Road junction (run on the grass verge!), EXTREME CARE, cross Ashby Road and run down Clifton Lane until the track on the LHS.
  6. Turn left down the track until the large tree before the house, turn left onto the public footpath and follow the path until the junction with the farm track.
  7. Turn right on the farm track and keep on track (through the gate, over two cattle grids, one stile on RHS). Follow the path until it comes out on Syerscote Lane at Cherryfield Cottage.
  8. Turn left and follow Syerscote Lane back into Wigginton village.
  9. Turn left at the junction and follow the road through Sill Green and back to the Wigginton pub on LHS.
