- From the Fox Inn (Dosthill), taking care cross the road and head up Church Road.
- Take the first left onto Slade Rd then follow to the end, bearing left onto the footpath.
- Turn right down the hill and take a left at the bottom.
- Follow along the woodland path and onto the wooden board path. This is very uneven so walking is recommended.
- Follow the path keeping the lake on your right. When you reach a gate bear right onto the track.
- Go through the kissing gate on your right (kissing is optional), take the footbridge over the River Tame.
- Turn right and follow the path. As it bears left follow the path between the lakes to the second bird screen.
- Turn left and follow the path past the turning for the canal.
- Carry straight on until your way is blocked by a gate. Here turn left and follow and tree lined path along the river.
- When you reach the end of the trail turn right and follow the path back to the bird screen.
- Turn left and follow the wetlands trail until you return to the footbridge.
- Cross the footbridge and go through the kissing gate (still no obligation to kiss).
- Follow the track until there is a clearing on the left. Turn into this field and go past the cabin.
- Turn left and then right, through the steep gap onto a field surrounded by woodland.
- Turn right then the next left up the hill through the middle of the woodland.
- Towards the top of the hill turn left and then right onto the path to the top of Dost Hill.
- Pause here to take in the views of Middleton lakes and Birmingham and definitely not because your blowing from running up the hill.
- Head down the hill to rejoin Slade Rd.
- Turn right onto Church Rd and cross over back to The Fox Inn
