Weekly Round-up – 19th October 2026

Autumn arrived on Sunday with clear blue skies and a crisp, chilly morning, making it great running conditions for the Tamworth 10k, a 2-lap course starting and finishing in the Castle grounds and running along pavements and canal towpaths. Eight peelers represented the club with some of them achieving PB’s in the process. First back for the club was Ian Orton in 45:04. Closely followed by Iain Downie (47:42), Wayne Richardson (49:14), Lydia Knight (52:20 new PB), Jo Bovington (53:07 new PB), Cheryl Flint (56:53), James O’Connell (58:56) and Lisa Barnes (01:17:53).

In Parkrun news, Peel Road Runners were out in force both at the home events and taking part in some parkrun tourism. Tim Mudd takes the tourism trophy this week for attending Harkerville parkrun in South Africa. Described as a run on quiet dirt farm roads with views across to the mountains makes this sound as quite a picturesque parkrun. Tim completed the parkrun in 30:13.

In closer-to-home tourism, Peel Road Runners were popping up all over. Nine peelers attended Coronation Park parkrun where Allen King took first peeler home with 23:02. Hot on his heels was Chris Bennett (23:29), Richard Satchwell (24:58), Wayne Richardson (25:28), Dan Bird (25:29), Samie Futrill (25:29), Tony Bryan (26:28), Jo Bovington (26:31) and Andy Gilman (26:54).

Other tourism included: Emma Pick at Brocks Hill Country Park where she achieved first female with a time of 21:43. Mike Shelton attended Forest of Dean parkrun, finishing in 22:40. At Queensway parkrun Ian Orton ran 49:30. Queenswood Country Park saw Jackie Tierney finish in 37:32. Steph Attenborough and Jo Sharman travelled to Sixfields Upton and finished in 54:43 and 54:38 respectively. Garth Cox ran Telford in 25:35. At Tetbury Goods Shed, Mark Boffey finished in 29:55, and Sarah Boffey finished in 59:18. Craig Smith and Natalie Walker ran at Tewkesbury with finish times 25:46 (Craig) and 25:52 (Natalie).

At the home events, Kingsbury drew the largest group of peelers with 19 in attendance. Phil Neale was first back in 22:44. Followed by Lisa Stretton (24:24), Simon Gordon (24:28), Ben Dorkins (24:37), Katie Stretton (24:49), Anne Whitby-Smith (25:37), Lorna Carlin (25:49), Darren O’Leary (26:11), Graham Lane (27:53), Claire Guffick (33:08), Emma Whorwood (33:43), Ann Hill (35:30), Roger Eastaff (35:32), Nicola Bannister (37:20), Wendy Bowyer (39:36), Owen Slater (49:08), Alison Dolphin (53:56), Lee Guffick (01:03:10) and Stephen Andrews (01:04:21).

At Tamworth Castle Grounds, first back was Tracy Ford in 26:11, with Roger Lloyd (27:02), Cheryl Flint (27:14), Jonathan Allen (29:45) and Dave Fern (31:18).
