    Weekly Round-up – 5th October 2026

Saturday means parkrun and this Saturday was no exception! Celebrating 22 years since the very first parkrun was held in London, many parkruns were encouraging runners to celebrate by wearing tutu’s (22 years … two two years!) and the Peelers didn’t take much persuading to don their frilly skirts for a 5k run!

Ash Goodman was first Peeler home at Kingsbury parkrun in a time of 23:38, followed by Katie Stretton (23:08), Lisa Stretton (24:27), Simon Gordon (24:42), Darren O’Leary (28:29), Claire Guffick (32:28), Chris Taylor (35:42), Ann Hill (36:46), Nicola Bannister (48:16), Roger Eastaff (38:19), Wendy Bowyer (40:29), Lee Guffick (44:16) and Stephen Andrews (63:07). Meanwhile at Tamworth Castle Grounds, Iain Downie finished in a time of 23:16, followed by Samie Futrill (25:01), Roger Lloyd (25:18), Sophie Galloway (25:58), Cheryl Flint (26:27 – a club F60 record by 27 seconds), Tracy Ford (26:49) and Owen Slater (27:00).

At Colby Woodland Garden parkrun in Pembrokeshire, Mick Stevenson crossed the line in 43:45 whilst at Conkers, Katherine Bradley finished in 24:24. At Teifi Marshes, Cardigan Emma Pick stopped the clock on 21:00 and at Beacon Park, Mike Shelton finished in 21:15 and Garth Cox in 25:04. Ben Dorkins was the only Peeler at Conkers finishing in a time of 24:15, whilst Jo Sharman and Steph Attenborough finished together in a time of 1:19:34 and 1:19:36 respectively at Cardiff. Ian Orton was the sole club representative at Vale Park, Burslem running in a time of 23:10 whilst Graham Lane ran at Chasewater (27:25) and Wayne Richardson (22:21) and Jo Bovington (25:30) ran at Coronation Park, Swadlincote.

In a closely run competition for the trophy for ‘parkrun furthest from Tamworth’ Tim Mudd ran at the Hout Bay parkrun, Cape Town, South Africa in 30:27 challenged by Mark Boffey (24:55), Jackie Tierney (35:06) and Sarah Boffey (47:41) who ran at Billdalsparken parkrun, Gothenburg, Sweden! Sarah was also celebrating her 250th parkrun and Jackie her 50th as a volunteer.

Finally, to celebrate his 200th parkrun Allen King and Lisa Barnes travelled to Keynsham near Bristol to run the Somerdale Pavilion parkrun. Located on the site of the former Fry’s/Cadbury’s chocolate factory site, the parkrun has an extremely twisty spiral course and is nicknamed the “Curly Wurly” after the famous chocolate bar. Allen finished in a time of 29:17 and Lisa in 29:21.
