Peel Road Runners were once again well represented across a wide range of parkruns this weekend, with members turning out in impressive numbers and producing a fine set of results.
At Long Eaton, Emma Pick produced a speedy run, finishing as first female in a time of 16:45.
A strong group of Peelers took on Kingsbury Water, where Ashley Goodman finished in 23:40, followed by Anne Whitby-Smith in 24:37. Darren Truman completed his run in 27:59, with Claire Guffick and Alison Upton finishing in 30:38 and 31:55 respectively. Lee Guffick crossed the line in 35:51, followed by Wendy Bowyer in 37:08 and Emma Whorwood in 38:12. Stephen Andrews rounded off the group’s efforts in 57:00.
At Warwick Racecourse, Michael Stevenson represented the club with a time of 41:00.
Over at Beacon, three Peelers took to the course. Mike Shelton recorded a time of 20:48, followed by Garth Cox in 22:43 and Roger Lloyd in 23:35.
Ahead of their Chicago marathon, Jo Sharman and Steph Attenborough ran together at Cornerstone Lakes finishing in 56:25 and 56:26 respectively.
A large group headed to Tamworth Castle Grounds, where Jamie Abbiss ran well to record 20:27. Chris Bennett followed in 24:38, with Tracy Ford close behind in 24:48. Matt Salisbury and Allen King both finished in 26:02, with Billy King achieving his 50th parkrun in 26:04 and Sophie Galloway finishing in 31:49.
At Black Rocks, Ian Orton ran an excellent time of 21:34, with Michael Hughes close behind in 21:49.
Finally, at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Jacqui Tierney completed her run in 28:51.
Seasoned marathon runners Jo Sharman and Steph Attenborough flew across the pond to take part in the Chicago Marathon in Illinois. It is one of the seven World Marathon Majors which saw Jo gain her 4th star and Steph her 5th – fantastic achievements. Sunny blue skies greeted the pair as they lined up for their marathon which starts and finishes in Grant Park and travels through one of the world’s most magnificent cities. The course has produced four world records, several national records and countless personal bests. Runners enjoy the support of 1.7 million spectators as they run through 29 neighbourhoods. Steph and Jo completed the marathon together in 6:21:06 and said they had an amazing experience.


The Peelers meet every Tuesday evening at the skate park car park at 6.45pm for a 7pm start with a choice of different paced running groups and a walking group.
