    Peel Road Runners started 2017 with a bang, taking part in races across the region.

    Bob Donovan completed an impressive feat, running marathons on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The Liverbird Marathon Day 1 saw him come in position 112 with a time of 4:51:04. Bob then completed Day 2 in 5:28:56 in position 48, a fantastic achievement in the wet and windy conditions.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”464″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]At Kingsbury Water Parkrun on Saturday, the Peelers were out in force. Lisa Fletcher achieved a big milestone, being awarded her t-shirt for 25 times as a volunteer. In the race, Mike Shelton was the first to cross the line in 20:28 mins and 14th place overall. Tim Gould finished the course in 21:26 mins and Dave Fern crossed the line in 22:06 mins.

    Martin Hollamby was the next to finish the course in 22:42 mins, followed by Stuart Hatton, continuing his training for the London Marathon with a time of 23:11 mins. Zoe Schnepp ran the course in 23:35 mins as 5th lady overall. Tim Mudd crossed the line in 24:33 mins and Marcus Fairburn finished the 5 km in 25:35 mins.

    Sandra Ingram completed the Kingsbury Water Parkrun in 28:50 mins, closely followed by Darren Truman in 28:52 mins and Liz Morgan in 28:59 mins. Carolyne Browne crossed the line in 30:59 mins and Anna Waugh finished in 33:33 mins.

    At Rosliston Parkrun, Rob Hirst ran the course in 26:01 mins and at Cannock Chase, Ruth Baker finished the 5 km in 34:47 mins.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”467″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]Peel Road Runners meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm at the Snowdome in Tamworth.

    At the Sneyd Striders Pudding Run, Tim Gould led the club home in 1:11:22, securing 69th place overall. Dave Fern was the next to cross the line in 1:16:57, an impressive 4th in his age category. Stuart Hatton finished the 10 mile course in 1:19:54, a new personal best. Sandra Ingram recorded a time of 1:28:45 and Ian Grigg finished in 1:36:12, another personal best.

    In Telford, Lee and Rachael Rickards completed the Telford 10k race. Lee crossed the line in 42 mins and Rachael completed the course in 54:20 mins.

    Last weekend, Bob Donovan completed another marathon and took an impressive 55 minutes off his time from the previous year. He ran the 8 laps at the Newark Showground Marathon to come in 32nd place with a time of 4:40:20.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”453″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]As always, the Peelers supported the local Parkruns and recorded more great times. In Rosliston, Rob Hirst recorded a time of 24:47 mins, a personal best for this course. In Walsall Arboretum, Lee Rickards crossed the finish line in 19:25 mins, coming in 19th place overall.

    Ten Peelers supported the Santa parkrun at Kingsbury Water Park, with many running in colourful costumes. Tim Gould was the first Peeler home with a time of 19:57 mins. Martin Hollamby finished in 21:03 mins and Dave Fern completed the course in 21:36 mins. Stuart Hatton Crossed the line in 22:03 mins and Darren Truman recorded a new personal best with a time of 22:55 mins.

    Malcolm Bembridge was the next Peeler to cross the line in Kingsbury in a time of 22:58 mins. Matt Smith finished the 5 km in 25:15 mins and Markus Fairburn completed the course in 26:37 mins. Ian Grigg crossed the line in 28:42 mins and Zoe Schnepp rounded off the Peel representation with 29:01 mins.

    Peel Road Runners meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm at the Snowdome in Tamworth. The Beginners Group meet on Monday nights at 7:30pm in the Snowdome and the next couch to 5k course will start in January.

    Good form continues for Peel Road Runners – Weekly round up – 5th December 2016

    The men’s cross country team continued their good form in the second race of the season in Gloucester. Martin Hollamby, the team captain, led the club home with a time of 34:38 mins, placing 25th in a strong field. Lee Rickards was the next to cross the line in a time of 36:27 mins, closely followed by Ashley Baldwin in 36:47 mins.

    Malcolm Bembridge completed the cross country course in 41:12 mins, followed by Richie Bunn in 41:51 mins, Craig Strong in 42:21 mins and Darren Truman in 44:01 mins. Overall, the Peel Men are placed 9th out of 19 in the league and only 28 points short of the team in 8th. The next race is in January.

    The Peel ladies also had a good day in the Midlands Womens XC League. Emma Birtles was the first to finish the hilly course in a time of 31:51 mins. She was followed by Sandra Ingram in 37:48 mins and Helen Manton in 39:34 mins.

    At Kingsbury Water Parkrun, Robert Hirst was the first Peeler across the line in a time of 24:55 mins. Liz Morgan followed with a time of 27:42 mins and Jo Insley finished the course in 28:36 mins.

    At the East Midlands Airport 10k, Carolyne Browne achieved a new personal best with a time of 54:02 mins. Tim Mudd also got a personal best with a time of 51:47 mins.

    At the Beacon Trail Half Marathon last weekend, Tim Gould braved the tough, hilly course to come out with an impressive time of 1:48:55.

    Mike Shelton also recorded a great time at the St Neots Half Marathon, crossing the line in 1:31:45.

    As always, members of the club supported the local Parkruns. Matt Smith put in a good time of 20:53 mins in Rosliston, a new personal best and 9th position. In Kingsbury Water Parkrun, Tim Gould was the first Peeler home with a time of 20:27 mins. Rob Hirst crossed the line in 25:02 mins and Wendy Bowyer finished the course in 33:37 mins.

    Peel Road Runners meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm at the Snowdome in Tamworth. The Beginners Group meet on Monday nights at 7:30pm in the Snowdome and the next couch to 5k course will start in January.

    The mens team started the cross country season in style, finishing the first race 6th out of 19 teams in the lead. Martin Hollamby led the charge with a solid 8th place and time of 39:46 mins for the tough 10k course. Robbie Baden finished shortly afterwards in 17th position with a time of 40:32 mins. Lee Rickards ran the course in 41:41 mins, Mike Shelton finished in 42:26 mins and Ashley Baldwin crossed the line in 43:17 mins. Craig Strong was the next finisher in 49:07 mins, followed by Darren Truman in 51:41 mins and Owen Slater in 56:58 mins. The next race is in December.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”409″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]The Peel ladies also had a good day in the Midlands Womens XC League.     At Kingsbury Water Parkrun, Tim Gould was the first Peeler home with a time of 20:42 mins and 18th place overall. Tim Mudd crossed the line in 24:21 mins, Liz Morgan ran in 29:02 mins and Carolyne Browne finished the course in 32:41 mins. Robert Hirst ran the Conkers Parkrun in 25:11 mins.

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”329″ img_size=”full” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]Last week represented a fantastic achievement for the beginners group of the Peel Road Runners. 13 runners took part in the Kingsbury Water Parkrun on Saturday. This came at the end of many weeks of hard work on the couch to 5k course. A special congratulations goes to Owen Slater for coaching the group.

    The beginners group were joined by many other members of the Peel Road Runners to make the Kingsbury Water Parkrun a particularly memorable event.

    Robbie Baden was the first Peeler to cross the line on his debut Parkrun, putting in an impressive time of 18:05 mins and 4th position. Martin Hollamby was not far behind with a time of 18:25 mins and 6th position. Matt Smith came in 21st position with a time of 19:56 mins.

    Stuart Hatton was the next Peeler to cross the line in a time of 22:01, followed by Joanne Harvey in a time of 23:51 mins, a new personal best. Darren Truman put in a time of 24:05 mins, Owen Slater ran the course in 27:19 and Jon Twiggs finished shortly after in 27:23 mins.

    Jo Insley completed the 5 km in 28:41 mins, followed by Laura Bowyer in 30:38 mins and George Hope in 30:56 mins. Samantha Wedgebury and Lesley Ann Nolan finished in the same time of 32:25 mins and Vickie Gilks crossed the line just after them in 32:30 mins. Zoe Schnepp and Liz Morgan ran the course together and finished in 33:40 mins.

    Wendy Bowyer and Lorraine Vernon ran the course in the same time of 33:52. Kelly Sippitts finished in 34:41 mins and was closely followed by Moira Twiggs in 34:48 mins. Darren Keenan ran the course in 35:22 mins and Christine Keenan crossed the line just afterwards in 35:32 mins. Nadine Cox ran the course in a time of 36:00 mins and Harriet Turner was right behind her in a time of 36:07 mins.

    At the Brueton Parkrun, Rob Hirst ran the course in a time of 24:50 mins and Mick Stevenson crossed the line in 27:55.

    Elsewhere, Val Lawson took part in the Flying Fox 10. She put in a good performance of 1:33:02, coming in 3rd in her age category. Bob Donovan took part in the Thames Meander Marathon, finishing the course in 4:47:28 in position 225.

    Mike Shelton completed the final race in his 120 mile challenge for Tiny Lives. He carried Trev the bear on his back for the 26.2 miles of the Leicester marathon. Mike ran the course in 4:15:42, a fantastic achievement and particularly impressive carrying a large bear.

    Also in Leicester, Bob Donovan ran the marathon in 4:57:37 and Zoe Schnepp ran the half marathon in 1:57:15.

    At the Snowdonia half marathon, Tricia Bunn ran the tough course in 3:59:45, securing her an impressive 13th position in her category. Richie Bunn crossed the line shortly afterwards in 4:00:15.

    Tim Mudd and Carolyne Browne both took part in the Dublin marathon. Tim crossed the line in 4:22:10 and Carolyne finished the course in 4:30:24.

    At the Abbots Bromley 10k, Lisa Fletcher achieved a personal best, finishing the course in 55:55 mins.

    As always, the Peelers supported the local Kingsbury Water Parkrun, both running and volunteering. Malcolm Bembridge was the first Peeler home with a time of 21:07 mins. Stuart Hatton ran the course in 21:51 mins and Joanne Harvey was the 6th lady in 24:12 mins. Darren Truman finished the 5k in 24:27, followed by Robert Hirst in 24:49 mins. Rachael Rickards crossed the line in 27:54 mins and Liz Morgan finished in 29:00 mins.

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Peel Road Runners made the most of the good weather to put in some great performances last weekend.

    Friday saw the awards ceremony of the Burton and District Summer League. Clubs from across the area enjoyed a celebration of great performances from a series of challenging events such as the Ashby 20, Gate Gallop and Burton 10k. Three members of the Peelers were honoured with awards. Dave Fern received the prize for 1st place in the Veteran Male 60 category and Val Lawson won the Veteran Ladies 55 category. Martin Hollamby also won an award, coming in 3rd in the Senior Male category across the series.

    At the Birmingham half marathon, Tim Gould led the club home in a fantastic time of 1:36:03, coming in position 871. Richie Bunn was the next Peeler to cross the line in 1:38:18. Malcolm Bembridge also put in a strong performance, finishing the 13.1 miles in 1:43:27.

    Craig Strong crossed the finish line on Broad Street in 1:48:19 and Stuart Hatton ran the course in 1:52:18. Mike Shelton completed the run in 1:52:26 with Trev the Bear, raising money for Tiny Lives. Tim Mudd was the next to complete the 13.1 miles in a time of 1:54:04, followed by Joanne Harvey in a time of 1:58:30. Sandra Ingram ran the course in 2:02:01, Carolyne Browne completed the route in 2:04:48 and Jo Insley crossed the line in 2:17:23.

    At the Kingsbury Water Parkrun, Martin Hollamby was the first Peeler to cross the line, running an impressive 18:48 mins pushing his daughter in a running buggy. Dave Fern put in a strong performance, finishing in 21:30 mins. Richie Bunn ran the course in 23:15 mins, closely followed by Tricia Bunn in 23:16 mins.

    Tim Mudd ran the 5 km at Kingsbury in 23:48 mins and Sandra Ingram crossed the line in 25:36 mins. Ian Grigg finished in 27:23 mins, closely followed by George Hope in 27:29 mins.

    At Nottingham half marathon, Malcolm Bembridge was the first Peeler to finish in a great time of 1:44:00. Sandra Ingram was the next to complete the 13.1 miles in a time of 1:57:10, followed by Darren Truman in 2:01:10. Ian Grigg crossed the line in 2:14:55. Chris Norris completed the course in 2:29:04 to secure an impressive 4th in her age category.

    At the Chester marathon, Bob Donovan completed the 26.2 mile course in 4:43:12.

    Last weekend, Zoe Schnepp represented the club at the Shelton Striders 10k in Derby. She ran the course in 53:37 mins.

    As always, members of the club took part in the Kingsbury Water Parkrun. Stuart Hatton led the club home in a time of 23:55 mins, closely followed by Tim Gould in 23:55 mins. Markus Fairburn finished the course in 24:46 mins and Darren Truman crossed the line in 25:15 mins. Owen Slater ran the 5 km in a time of 28:12 mins and George Hope ran the course in 31:55 mins.

    At the Great North Run, Carolyne Browne was the first Peeler to cross the line in a time of 2:01:23. She was closely followed by Tim Mudd at 2:01:25. Jo Insley completed the iconic course in 2:06:10 and Ian Summerill finished shortly after in 2:06:52.

    Zoe Schnepp represented the club at the Lichfield 10k and completed the undulating course in 52:19 mins.

    Sunday 18th September saw the final race in the Burton and District Summer League. Runners from clubs across the region met for the Tamworth 5 mile race on pathways around Glascote.

    Martin Hollamby crossed the line in 7th place with a time of 30:09 mins. This secured him an impressive joint 3rd overall in the league for the end of the season. Prizes will be awarded at the BDSL awards ceremony later in the autumn.

    Mike Shelton was the next Peeler to cross the line in a time of 33:33 mins. Malcolm Bembridge finished the 5 miles in 36:15 mins, closely followed by Dave Fern in a time of 36:23 mins. Dave Fern’s time won him an impressive 1st place in his category.

    Craig Strong ran the course at the Tamworth 5 mile in 37:16 mins. Stuart Hatton crossed the line in 38:19 mins and Marcus Fairburn completed the route in 40:02 mins. Sandra Ingram was the first of the Peel ladies in a time of 42:22 mins.
